The Dream
A poem by Linda Ellis — a vision of a place where kindness reigns, opinions are shared without enemies, and healing begins.
I had a dream last night
of a place simple and true
where everybody shows respect
for each other's point of view.
A gathering of hearts and minds
in no particular location…
a place to find the wisdom
it will take to heal our nation.
Where kindness has created
a huge, impenetrable gate
that politics and prejudice
can never infiltrate.
Where people are not judged
or labeled "wrong" and "right,"
and viewed in living color –
not just in black and white.
A place to share opinions
without making enemies,
where we can harmonize together
singing our own melodies.
They say sometimes dreams come true.
But for now, I'll hope and pray
that mine becomes reality
somehow,
somewhere,
someday.
